Community Supported Agriculture
Purchasing a CSA share is like investing in our farm. We put our shares up for sale in the winter when we are making the least amount of money but having to spend the most. Winter is when we purchase our seeds, soil, infrastructure, and packaging for the season and these purchases add up QUICK
Buying your share in advance helps us pay for these things and sets us up for the most success we can have for the rest of the season
To thank you for your investment, we make sure that we are supplying you with the best veggies we can while also adding an extra 20% because you took a chance on us, why shouldn’t you get a little extra?
Our CSA operates from mid June until late September. You can expect to find delicious, seasonal vegetables, fruit and herbs in your box each week curated for you, by us!
The contents of your CSA will look a bit different each year but a typical season looks like…
June: Arugula, spinach, radishes, dill, spring onions, salad turnips, lettuce mix, rhubarb
Mid-July: Zucchini, broccoli, baby potatoes, snap peas, beets, green beans, mixed greens, and cilantro
Mid August: Tomatoes, peppers, cherry tomatoes, onions, basil, carrots, melons, lettuce mix, and cucumbers
September: Winter squash, potatoes, leeks, tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, garlic, kale, and carrots
Typically we say that one CSA share will feed approximately two adults. That’s two adults that are eating salads at lunch and dinner and enjoying carrot sticks and open faced tomato sandwiches for snacks. If you prefer to have vegetables as more of a side, then there is potential for your share to feed up to 6 people.
We have two pick up locations for our CSA:
Wednesdays at the South Osborne Farmers’ Market in Winnipeg from 4-8pm
Thursdays at Your Grocery People in Niverville from 4-8pm
We aim to create as little waste as possible when putting together your boxes, and use mostly compostable packaging. We do use plastic bags for things like greens because we think they maintain the quality better than other bags can.
To ensure we are keeping waste to a minimum please bring your own bag to pick up each week!
Want to support the beginning our season but not quite ready to commit to a CSA? No problem! We created a Market Membership just for you!
